Lombok - Restaurants

Alang Alang Restaurant, Senggigi ****

Most romantic restaurant of Lombok ... and with a bit of luck you are there completely alone.
In 1999 I had a serious eatparty there with a very good friend. Lot of courses after each other, a T-bone steak, and so on and so on!
In 2006, on a nice evening, I went there with my wife and we ate a delicious Australian Tenderloin T-Bone Steak . You can either eat under a patio (see photo), which is a few meters from the beach, but you can also get a table close to the sea. At night you see some lights at sea, fishermen, on foot trough the low water, with a fishingnet ... There is no streetlight, pure pleasure, the sounds of nature and a delicious cocktail, a delightful time and a great dessert. At such a moment you think ... this is, this is really it, totally!

What we have enjoyed eating there in 2006:

- Apéro. Bruschetta, 15000 Rp.
- Coctail Pina Colada, 18000 Rp.
- T-Bone Steak, 71500 Rp.
- Lamb Chops, 90000 Rp.

Tropicana Grand Café, Senggigi ***

Relatively large restaurant in Senggigi Town!
They have an extensive menu and the food is very good. The large pizzas are a must ... everything fresh and embarrassingly large portions. The oven is specially lighted if it is not the case (you have to patient then, but hey, it's for you alone).
You can see their menu on their site. The only downside when we were there was the live band who played a little too loud. But they played a Bob Marley song at our request. Fortunately they stopped for the World Cup that was shown on a big screen for a lot of spectators.

What we have enjoyed eating there in 2006:

- Toasted Tomato & Mozzarella on toasted French Bread, 40500 Rp.
- Pizza Margherita (large) with extra olives, 43500 Rp.
- Pizza Tropicana Meatfeast Special (large), 99500 Rp.
Tip: pizzas for 1 person : take a medium, unless you are very hungry, you can easyly share a large pizza with 2 persons.

Rinjani Restaurant, Senggigi **

This is the restaurant of the Hotel "Holiday Resort Lombok", the former Holiday Inn which has now became independent. The owner is still the same Indonesian, who also owns the Bali & Lombok Bluebird Taxis.
(apparently not all Holiday Inns are owned by them, they just run them). The food is not really special, but if you stay there it is very handy. A limited selection of the menu can also be served in the room (we ourselves occasionally made use of this roomservice!)
